The first thing you’ll notice when starting out with video production is that you can’t see everything properly or it looks weird or grainy. So when should you start investing in lights?

Some LED Lighting

If you’re using your phone camera then you’ll definitely need to get some lights when you’re shooting in low-light conditions.

However, if you have a DSLR or high-end camera, you might be able to film in low light without needing artificial lighting.

Of course, it all depends on what you’re doing, but my first piece of advice is this:

You can’t really decide on your lighting until you know what type of camera you’re using.
