Shoot’s new remote control feature is something you won’t find anywhere else. You can connect the app to squares.tv and control the camera settings - ISO, shutter speed, focus and zoom, from any web browser.

Well, any language that Apple supports anyway.

It’s time to talk about cameras. But I’m not going to talk about Sony vs Canon vs Nikon vs Blackmagic here. There are loads of YouTubers and bloggers far better qualified to tell you about all the latest gear.

Instead, I’ll give you a bird’s eye view of your different options and how you’d use different cameras with your computer.

Last week I saw someone struggling to draw labels using their telestrator (or whiteboard or lightboard or whatever we’re calling it!).

This gave me an idea.

I’ve been asked why it’s called Squares TV. I’m not particularly good at marketing and branding so the reasons are confusing and relate to my personal history. Let me explain.

I love building things but I’ve fallen behind on my emails. Here’s some stuff I’ve done over the last couple of weeks. We need to talk about the latest Can You See My Screen podcast, Beat Sheet and how Shoot has been translated.

Instead of using keyboard shortcuts, Beat Sheet now connects to Ecamm to retrieve all of your scenes, letting you pick them by name.

Maintaining eye contact while talking to people on Zoom or Ecamm can be a problem.

If you’ve solved this problem with an external display and teleprompter rig, now you can easily add a Beat Sheet overlay with your cue cards.
